Singapore's flagship competitive grant for social science and humanities research on issues of strategic relevance to Singapore and the region, run by the Social Science Research Council. Three funding tiers scale from a single project up to a multi-year research centre, so it can carry anything from a focused study to sustained programmatic work on ageing, family, mental health or social policy. Joint submissions across eligible host institutions are permitted, and collaboration with local or overseas partner organisations is allowed.

- Eligibility
- Principal Investigators and co-PIs must hold a primary full-time appointment (a minimum commitment of nine months per year) at one of the ten eligible Singapore Host Institutions, which include NUS, NTU, SMU, SUSS, SUTD, SIT, ISEAS, A*STAR, the Singapore-ETH Centre and UAS. Applications are submitted through the institutional Research Office, so an unaffiliated community organisation cannot apply directly and would need to partner with an eligible host institution. Funds generally cannot be channelled to research activity overseas unless expressly allowed.
