Research on Research Integrity (RRI) Program

HHS Office of Research Integrity (OASH)

ORI's extramural grant program funds empirical research on the societal, organizational, group and individual factors that help or harm integrity in research. ORI explicitly invites proposals with relevance to behavioral health science and health services research, which puts social work methodologists, research-ethics scholars and mentorship researchers squarely in scope. FY26 awards are one-year projects and the competition is announced annually.

Indicative award
Amount not published (varies by call)The ORI program page publishes no award ceiling or floor; the FAQ says amounts vary by program and are specified in each year's Notice of Funding Opportunity. No figure recorded here because none appears on the funder page.
Timing
Annual cycleAnnual cycle · JulNo specific published date recorded. This funder publishes a cycle rather than a date, and this database does not invent one.ORI runs an annual FY cycle. The FY2026 NOFO (IR-ORI-26-001) closed in late July 2026; the program page does not publish a future date, so watch ORI for the FY2027 announcement.
Who can apply
Any faculty rank, Early-career faculty, Mid-career & senior
Eligibility
U.S. institutions apply; ORI's grant-programs FAQ states plainly that foreign institutions are not eligible. There is no requirement that the applicant already hold PHS funding, so a school of social work can apply directly. Institutions conducting biomedical or behavioral research must have a research misconduct assurance on file with ORI.
