Program Grants and Requests for Proposals

The Connecticut Health Foundation is the state's largest independent health philanthropy, created in 1999 from ConnectiCare's conversion to for-profit status, and works entirely on health equity in Connecticut. It funds policy and practice change with systems-level potential, and its grantmaking explicitly covers policy advocacy, research and evaluation rather than service delivery alone. Program grants run $25,000 to $150,000 on a quarterly concept-paper cycle, with smaller discretionary grants available on a rolling basis and periodic RFPs in the $25,000 to $50,000 band.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) organisation, a state or municipal public agency, another public entity such as a university or health department, or a coalition working through a qualified fiscal sponsor. Universities are therefore eligible in their own right. The Foundation does not fund individuals, direct-service-only projects, clinical research, capital projects, or work benefiting people outside Connecticut. A preliminary meeting with Foundation staff is required before any concept paper is submitted.
