Fogarty's flagship trainee pathway: one year of mentored global health research training at established biomedical and health research institutions and project sites in low- and middle-income countries. Fogarty funds seven consortia (ACHIEVE, Global Health Emerging Scholars, INSIGHT, NPGH LEADERs, HBNU, UJMT and GLOCAL), each with its own sites, mentors and application process, and trainees apply directly to a consortium rather than to NIH. - Individual trainees apply, not institutions: predoctoral and pre-professional trainees from the United States, and postdoctoral and post-professional trainees from both the U.S. and LMICs. Applications for NEW consortia are not being accepted at this time; the institutional D43 competition is closed, and the only live route is the trainee application to one of the seven existing consortia.
