Giving Project Grants

Headwaters Foundation for Justice

Unrestricted general operating support decided entirely by a volunteer Giving Project cohort that also raises the money through one-on-one community conversations. Grants go to BIPOC-led Minnesota groups that use community organizing to address root causes of injustice; the 2026-27 cycle is themed on youth organizing (ages 0-24). General operating dollars can underwrite participatory evaluation, documentation and research partnerships when the grantee chooses to use them that way.

Applicant must be a BIPOC-led, Minnesota-based grassroots organization using a community-organizing approach; the 2026-27 cycle additionally requires a commitment to youth organizing (ages 0-24). A university cannot be the applicant. Priority goes to organizations with budgets under $1M, though the page states this is not an eligibility bar and does not state a 501(c)(3) requirement.
