Lever

Peer sharing rules

The organization sets rules for what people pass to colleagues and what AI agents pass to one another. Each hand-off names its source and needs authorization. Peer review becomes a routine part of the work rather than an accusation.

What it is

In most organizations, colleagues pass mistakes to one another, and agents pass them to other agents, without any formal check along the way. Peer sharing rules set what may be handed on, and they require each hand-off to name its source. Routine peer review makes a second look normal, so asking for one signals no distrust. Copying between record systems is a separate problem with a lever of its own.

What it pushes on in the Lab

In the Lab, this lever weakens the pathway by which people pass failures to one another. It also weakens the pathway by which AI models or agents relay failures to one another. It strengthens the pathway by which peers cross-check each other's work.

You can also pull this lever at a strong tier, which costs more. At the strong tier, each effect below the Lab's strongest setting pushes harder.

In the modes that offer aiming, you can aim this lever at particular parts and pathways of a network. Otherwise it applies to the whole network.

This lever pushes less hard when you switch on lingering effects in the Lab's options, unless you also pull Understand the system.

Its pattern in the Practice Library

The Practice Library describes the pattern behind this lever:Peer-edge governance

The pressures it answers

These pressures list this lever among the levers that answer them:

A lever answers a pressure when it pushes the other way on something the pressure pushes on.

The evidence behind its effects

The Lab cites no claim from the evidence registry for this lever's effects. The Lab's authors set the direction and size of each effect.

Pull this lever in the PAN Lab and watch which way it pushes the network.
